“My parents always wanted me to take the academic route. They thought it was the only way I could achieve some form of stability in life. But I had other plans – I was awestruck with the concept of Photography and always had a story to tell! There was never a dull moment in life when I took up mobile photography. It was the best thing I picked from my friends. But my extracurricular activities meant nothing more than a hobby to my parents.
They expected me to be a dutiful man who would study Engineering and do a stable job after college. When I passed out of college, the reality won obviously and I couldn’t say no to my parent’s wishes. I took up a job as a maintenance engineer straight after my graduation and started working to make my parents proud. It’s been two years so far and I can say my career is stable but I am not sure if it could give me long-term satisfaction in life. I still have the urge to pursue my passion in photography full time so I had created a page online to showcase my works. Within a short span, I could achieve decent followers and it certainly pushed me one step further to focus on my goal.
Now that I am living on my own for the past two years, my relationship with my parents became much stronger and I could gain their trust! I just hope they would come to terms with my photography dream soon!”
