“You get to meet so many people from different cities, you’re never stuck in the same place and most importantly, you can spread happiness to customers by ferrying them all over the beautiful city of Rajamahendravaram by earning a decent income. This is what I thought when I took up this job of being an auto-rickshaw driver, twenty years ago. Fortunately, that’s true for me so far with God’s grace.
I like my job, even though I am a science graduate. I went to the government college in my village, but I chose to come to Rajamahendravaram and drive an auto.
This one time, a foreign couple from the USA who were above 50 years old came up to me and asked me to take them for sightseeing of the entire city of Rajamahendravaram and Kakinada. So we began our day in the morning and through the day, we visited a series of enchanting places varying from temples, Pushkar ghat, beach, and authentic food joints of the city, until it was time to return home. We laughed so much when I tried to communicate with them with my mediocre English but we had such a great time. On days like these, in those moments of pure satisfaction, I am glad I am responsible to make people understand the greatness of our culture. I certainly feel that my auto has not just given me basic income for survival but, it has also given me a reason to be happy and live life wholeheartedly!”
