“Last week, my brother and I were playing cricket with our friends from the apartment. Suddenly, I hit the ball through our neighbour’s window and that’s not the first time a glass window broke. I was scared and my friends asked me to bring the ball back. I plucked up the courage and went inside the flat. Prasad uncle was holding the ball and reading the book. I was clueless and didn’t know what to do. I had twenty rupees in my pocket that day. I told him that I will pay back the money for the broken window in installments and asked him to accept my apology for my mistake. I requested him to give the ball back. To my surprise, he smiled back at me and didn’t take my money. He even said that I am a very kind child. He invited me inside his house, offered me a biscuit packet and gave the ball back.
I thanked him and went back to the play area. I told everything to my friends and even they were happy. After the match, we all went back home happy but somewhere, I felt guilty because I broke the window. I thought I should do something to compensate the damage so my brother and I are saving our pocket money to buy a big cake for Prasad uncle on his birthday. I think we will be able to save enough to buy the cake by next month.”
