“My daughter is my best friend. We talk to each other about anything and everything in the world without a second thought.
She has always been the driving force who pushed me to explore and do new things beyond my boundaries. I had no idea about technology and she was the one to teach me how to operate a smart phone and video calls my relatives. I often get a long break from work in the evenings and during that time, she taught me driving. She believes that learning is a continuous process and it doesn’t matter what age you are, you are never too old to learn something new.
Right from the childhood, I have never said no to her choices. She always wanted to do good for the society. My husband runs a small medical shop and I take care of the household chores. We worked hard to educate her despite all the financial difficulties. We always ensured to give her the best education possible and freedom to make her own career choices in life. Today she works as a district volunteer under the Andhra Pradesh government.
To me, it all feels like just yesterday but time flew by so fast – now she drops me to work every morning on her way to office. I still cherish the moments when she was a little kid playing and running around. I wish I could freeze that time and see her like a little baby. I couldn’t stop her from growing up but the one thing I am grateful for is I was there for her during her growing years and today she teaches me the things in the world that I could never see myself doing!”
