“We have paddy farms in the village Mallepalli, so I grew up working in the fields everyday after school. By the time I was in Intermediate, I wanted to start earning to support my family, so I began to work at my uncle’s factory. I attended college in the mornings and worked at the factory in the evenings. My plan was to earn and save money during graduation to start a business of my own. But nothing went as planned and due to certain financial problems at home, I couldn’t afford to study further. I had to give up on my dreams and continue working.
One year back, I got married. My wife is now doing her undergraduation. Sometimes she reminds me of myself when I was her age and had big dreams. There was never a question of her quitting her studies or becoming a housewife. I have always wanted her to study as much as she wanted and become whatever she likes. When I see her study hard everyday, I realise she has a great future ahead of her. Every day, I travel from Mallepalli to Mydukur, to ensure she faces no hassles in travel.
I always wanted to make a name so that my family could be proud of me, but now I think she’s better suited to do that. I will never let my wife limit her dreams like I had to. She’s strong enough to overcome all hurdles that come in her way, but whenever she needs me, I will always have her back.”
