“For 7 years I worked for a reputed firm as a software developer. Back then my aspirations were to get a well paying job, settle down and take care of my family. I used to work hard six days a week and my only motivation was the weekend. But I realized that it was not giving me inner peace. After a few months, I decided to quit the job and start a new business by myself. While assessing options, I came to the conclusion that the food sector is the most important yet the most ignored one. That is when I recalled the lessons given by my uncle about farming. My uncle always encouraged me to take up farming but also warned me that it was a risky business and the biggest problem was availability of good labor. He would say that I won’t get labor unless I ensure they earn more than what they already were. That helped me understand the prevalent trends of agriculture. My father owned some land in my village but it was left barren. So I started researching more about the modern methods of cultivation. After proper planning, I invested my provident fund of 4 years with a thought to go back to the corporate life if I wasn’t successful. It was difficult initially but later I managed to make profits. I began with the traditional vegetable farming and market research gave me the courage to do more. People used to question me at first, but with my approach, I began to earn double the money and satisfaction.”
