“I have been a Rickshaw puller since 1982. I neither know my age nor do I remember my date of birth. I don’t even have memories of celebrating a birthday even during my childhood. Every Tuesday, my profession will see a bit of dip in business. I don’t know any other work apart from this which is why I have stuck to this profession even in this hi-tech era. We get Rs. 500 daily if we go for farming works or daily labour work. But I got habituated to this so I didn’t change my profession. My wife works as a maid in the nearby houses. She gets around Rs.1500 per month whereas there is no fixed amount for my income. Rainy season is the worst period for my profession. I thought of buying an auto and later left that thought. For auto we have to fill diesel for almost Rs. 300 everyday and another Rs. 300 as rent which is Rs. 600 per day, which I cannot afford. I pay Rs. 2000 for my rent, my children’s education, daily expenses, groceries. How will I manage to buy an auto after paying all these expenses? I have two children, one boy and a girl. My son is studying in Intermediate second year and my daughter is studying in 9th class. I couldn’t study after 7th due to financial problems. I am a fan of Chiranjeevi and I watch all his films. I don’t have any regrets in my life. I will cast my vote for the Congress party. My two brothers and I were provided with houses thanks to them. Getting married and having kids is the happiest thing in my life. I don’t believe in caste system and as a society we should live happily without any caste barrier.”
