“My father worked in the state road transport cooperation and he ran a family of 12 with his earnings alone. Almost all of us are graduates and have good jobs today. After my degree, I started working with my uncle in his cold drink business. I took it over after his death, somewhere in the early 1990s. My best memories of childhood are having dinner together as a family. It was an everyday practice at home. We would sit in the dining hall and chat about everything from news to colony gossip and movies. Although all my brothers and sisters live separately in different cities, we make it a point to meet for every Dussehra. And when we meet, it’s a giant family. Imagine 42 members celebrating a festival in one house! It’s a huge gathering. We meet in Kurnool and spend one whole week together. Children running around, women and men helping each other in the kitchen and our mother making delicious sweets – that kind of a sight makes me happy.”
