“Women have entered all fields today. Why can’t I do more”? This thought made me take my work seriously. We are a family of 6, my parents, sisters and myself. My parents would earn Rs. 8,000 for the entire family and it never seemed sufficient. I hadn’t studied beyond class 10, because we didn’t have the money. Instead I began working at a local tailoring shop.
After marrying my younger sister off, they needed my support. Searching for jobs across the city made me familiar with the routes and helped me discover shortcuts in the city. I realised that food delivery was the most appropriate job for me. But when I told my parents about it, they were worried about my safety. However, it’s been seven months since I started working as a delivery girl now and I have received a positive response from both the hotels and the customers. My goal is to save up enough to start a clothing store of my own, irrespective of how much I might have to work.”
