“Like any other kid, I didn’t like anyone telling me what to do. I would hate it when my parents wouldn’t let me go out with my friends or told me to study while I felt like doing photography. All this made me strive for freedom even more. But as years passed, I realized that it wasn’t because of my family or others that I felt like breaking free. It was actually because of myself and my fears. I was afraid to take chances or let everyone around me down. That’s when I decided to become independent in life. After my Engineering, I decided to move to Vijayawada to pursue a diploma in photography. When I started living alone, I felt liberated. Back at home, I was living in my own comfortable space. But here I was doing everything for myself. From washing my own clothes to a part time job to meet my expenses. I grew as a person, learnt so much about myself, even explored different avenues. Around that time I decided that I wanted to use some of my spare time to actively make a difference, so I started volunteering in an NGO that works for destitutes and other vulnerable groups. It helped me step out of my comfort zone and grow as a person. For me, freedom is living peacefully and doing what I want to do in life. I may not have achieved great things in life, but I think it’s a good start to finding myself and what I love.”
