“I grew up with 2 sisters and 3 brothers. We were a simple family with limited resources. I couldn’t study beyond class 7, because education wasn’t considered important back then. At the age of 16, I began to work to support my family. Unfortunately, every month, a large chunk of my earnings would go to the owner leaving me with a meagre amount. That’s when I made up mind about starting my own business here in RK Beach.
I hadn’t made enough money yet, but I was determined and somehow arranged enough money to start off this business. I did this only to ensure a happy, good and decent life for my family. It includes some sacrifices, like having to go to the beach every single day, irrespective of the weather conditions. One day away from work leads to loss of income and trouble for my family, something I don’t wish upon them. I don’t enjoy the luxury of a paid leave. Thankfully, I enjoy what I do, so it doesn’t feel like a stressful job at all. I gladly work day and night. I have many regular customers and tourists to talk to. They make me exceedingly happy. And believe me, I am their favorite Babai – after all, I always get them the best moori mixture here!”
