“In a way, I am also a doctor as I have revived many old cameras and telephones. My world revolves around collecting these antiques by traveling to different places across India. I mainly collect old cameras, radios, and telephones. I even own an old telescope which I purchased from one of the collectors in Bombay. Earlier I used to go to different shops to know about the history of these cameras. Now the information is accessible through various online sources. Even as a child I was fascinated by my uncle’s knowledge in the electronics industry. He has had a shop near the NTR circle in Kadapa for more than 25 years and he sells all kinds of devices.
Whenever I had time I would sit with him and he taught me the nuances of these electronics. Later, when I finished my graduation, I wanted to become like him. But, my uncle advised me to do something different in life.
I did a course on camera mechanisms and repairing in Bombay so I decided to start this shop. I have been in this profession for more than 10 years now. My wife is a homemaker. I have two beautiful daughters. One is studying in second grade and the other is a toddler. I realized I would not be able to make both ends meet with this work alone, so I learned to repair other electronic devices such as mixer grinders, laptops, and mobile devices.
Over the years my customer base has increased steadily and today I can proudly say that I am able to make my passion into my profession. Money matters but if we cannot be happy with what we do, it doesn’t make any sense. Through my work, I can take care of my family and that’s enough for me.”
