“I am a native of Srikakulam. I was into agriculture for my
livelihood when I was young. I have migrated to Vijayawada along with my family
with a hope to start a successful smallscale business. It has been 20 years
since we started making Gunny bags for our livelihood. The speciality of these
bags lies in the quality of jute which goes into the manufacturing process. I
am 54 years old and I work hard for 12 hours a day making these bags. We are
going through bad crisis due to the
availability of other alternatives in the market. There’s no demand for these
gunny bags currently. I always regret not educating my children because of our
family situation. It has certainly made sustaining life in today’s progressive
world more difficult.”
