“I have been serving the nation for 28 years now. I still remember applying to get into the Indian Army. I was quite smitten by the idea of serving the nation. It was not just a matter of pride but also about the humility of serving my fellow country citizens. I initially thought I would work for 20 years and retire. It is 28 years now and I still don’t plan on retiring. The sense of serving the nation is inexplicable. I urge the youngsters to consider joining the Army. I keep travelling across the poles of the nation, leaving my family behind but nothing comes close to the job satisfaction. I visit my family once in a few months. The thought that they are safe and sound keep me going.
There is a lot of romanticized view of Army. It is not a funny business. One small move can cost lives. Incase, a person is disciplined, determined and is ready to serve the nation altruistically, I encourage them to consider being a part of Army. There is nothing like giving yourself to the nation.”
