‘I don’t know when I was born or where I was born. When people ask how old I am, I simply say I don’t know. My father is a drunkard. My mother struggles every single day to bring money home. After the time, I started walking steadily as a child, I started helping my mother. My sister and I never went to school because having one square a meal was a task, going to school was quite far-fetched. Like I said, I started working every early on in life. I am a mason now. My sister is also a house help like my mother. My father is still a drunkard who knows nothing but to drink, wander on the streets aimlessly. He is unperturbed about his family.
I love cricket and badminton. Playing badminton at a tournament has been my dream. Considering my background, my financial situation, I don’t think I can even afford to dream. I go for mason work during the day and in the evening, I ensure I come here to play badminton every single day. It is like my escape from the pain I go through every single day. It makes me forget the baggage. I am extremely passionate about the game. Sometimes I do feel I should approach people to help me take my passion forward. I dont know who would help me. I can’t burden my sister or my mother. They struggle every day just like me.
For now, I am going to bury my dream and play with my friends. If I am really destined, may be, some miracle might happen and I would be representing my state at a national level.”
