“I earn Rs. 250 every day and I have four people to feed at home. My husband works at a local construction site and I work as a maid in this apartment. We live in a small portion in the same apartment so I am continuing my work even during the lockdown while following all precautionary measures. The families here are supportive and help us in all possible ways to keep us safe from the virus.
My husband has not been able to work for the last eight days because of the lockdown so he’s at home with our kids and their grandmother. We will run out of food soon, if I don’t work. I know the risk of coronavirus, but I can’t see my family go hungry.
I need to earn to feed my family. I have heard that the government is going to provide us some monetary relief but I have no idea when and how.
The last ten days were bad – even when there was no lockdown. There’s hardly any public transport and now with the complete lockdown, we can’t even go back to our village. I am stuck here in Vijayawada and constantly worried about my family in the village at Guntur. I hope all my family members are safe in the village. I call them everyday, tell them to wash their hands regularly and not go out, so they stay protected during these testing times.”
