“I think I started drawing when I was 6. Although I don’t remember a time when I didn’t draw, I still wouldn’t refer to it as my passion. It was and still is, a medium to share my stories. This realization came much later for me. Post my engineering, I studied fashion designing. The whole process of developing an idea, weaving a story around it and creating something tangible by the end of it opened up a new world for me. After working with a designer for a year I quit and decided to try my hand at managing a small scale slow fashion label. The startup didn’t pan out the way I wanted it to and that’s when I tried my hand at illustrating. At this point it was about having some form of creative and emotional outlet more than anything else. I drew every day for a year irrespective of whether it got published on social media or not. And somewhere along this line, I realized my potential for illustration as my medium for storytelling. Slowly, I worked towards honing my technical skills along with experimenting with combining illustrations to other forms of storytelling; like writing, animation and podcasting. This self-exploration phase of mine has been nothing short of a revelation and I see the way people relate and identify with my work. I am also working on a couple of short illustrated strips and animated videos. However, at the crux of all this, is sharing something of value to an audience. I hope to work with a studio or company soon, where I can be a part of stories bigger than myself and have a larger audience. My dream is to work on an animated feature film with Pixar one day. Of course there are times when I feel absolutely lost but even then I know that if I have to do something for the rest of my life, it would be to just tell stories to the world in whichever capacity I can at the moment.”
