“I grew up in a small village in Kadapa. I was always interested in clothes, even as a kid. I wanted to learn how to stitch so I could create whatever I liked, but my parents wouldn’t allow me to. They got me married at a young age due to the financial conditions at home. Initially, I was a housewife, but then I realized that it wasn’t late. I managed to convince my husband and enrolled myself for a tailoring course within six months of our marriage. It was tough juggling between my duties towards my family and classes, but I did it. My husband and in-laws felt very happy when I completed the course and supported me in renting this small stall to start my own tailoring business. I have been doing this for the past 7 years now and I love it. I continue to learn on the job everyday. Achieving my childhood dream made me realize that if we have faith in ourselves and work hard towards our goals, nothing remains impossible. I am looking forward to achieving a lot more and training many young women who’d like to enter this field. Afterall, there’s always a new chapter waiting to be opened.”
