“I belong to Rajahmundry. I had to quit school after 6th grade, when my father passed away due to heart attack. Life was a smooth sail till he was around. I vividly remember how he would write my notes for me if my hand was hurt. He was extremely caring and protective of my brothers and me. His death left us all troubled. We began to face financial difficulties and my mother started working at a hospital as help. Eventually my brothers and I started our own families and set up small businesses. My husband and I started a binding shop. It has been a tough ride. We tried to get a loan, but due to the lack of collateral, our request was rejected. We are now stuck in the vicious cycle of borrowing money from lenders and struggling to return it. In these 13 years of this business, the first 7 years were extremely slow. We still find it hard to make ends meet. Paying bills, investing in the business and providing quality education to our daughters is a tough task. When I was younger, I never realized education would be this crucial for survival. Today, my young daughters are capable of handling all our official and bank documentation work, thanks to the education they are receiving. They are bright girls and always rank well in class. It makes me extremely happy. I wish to see them as doctors some day!”
