“I am a native of Rajasthan. It has been five years since I migrated to Kadapa along with my family. I make idols and showpieces for a livelihood. This takes a lot of hard work. These showpieces are transported to different parts of the country. Despite the demand for these pieces in the market, my earnings are quite meagre as the middlemen keep most of the returns. I strive extremely hard to my make ends meet. I also have the responsibility of educating my children. Back in my childhood, my parents did not realize that the world would evolve so much. They never sent me to school and that has made survival tough in this technologically-advanced world. I don’t care if my income is scanty, I will never compromise on the quality of the education my children receive. I want them to stand on their own feet. Hopefully, when they grow older, they will take care of my wife and me.”
