“The movement really got popular because of celebrities opening up. Considering the
amount of influential power celebs
have, it does provide young
girls a platform to share their stories too. Only when we share out stories and catch hold of the abuser will there be a change in the society. We need to punish people who did wrong, no matter who he is. I was quite unsure and scared of talking about this myself. But I had a casual discussion with my father and he told me how all of us should be strong to speak about our experiences and call men out. Although I don’t have a personal experience, I wanted to stand up for every girl who is sharing her story.
All I can do, of course, is maybe share and retweet and also offer emotional help. But I do understand why it’s difficult for women to open up. I mean, look at the society assassinating characters of victims, as if we wanted to share our horrific stories for attention?! It annoys me but how will all this change if we don’t shut them up? Let’s stand up for each other and fight it together.”
